iPhone SDK Beta 6 ImageApple iPhone developer’s can now download iPhone beta SDK 6 from Apple as long as they have also downloaded today’s software updates, 10.5.3.  This release, 9m2192, comes in at about 1221.8 MBs (which is quite hefty) and includes the usual bug fixes that come with updates.  You can head on over to the iPhone Dev Center to download this file.  According to the read me PDF, this update more specifically:

  1. Beta release 4 adds support for Open GL ES within the iPhone Simulator.
  2. Code signing is now enforced on devices.
  3. Beta release 3 fixes bugs and adds support for the latest iPhone OS.
  4. Beta release 2 adds support for building iPhone user interfaces using the Interface Builder tool.

These two updates came at the perfect time for both Mac and iPhone users.  Of course, any Leopard update is great for Mac users and will fix many problems.  With an official iPhone SDK announcement expected to be made at this year’s WWDC, the new beta is just another step closer to a finished product.  I find it strange that Apple released these updates before WWDC, but I’m not complaining at all as I already have them downloaded.  Go check ‘em out!
